William Major, our grandfather, was the son of a Sussex jeweller.
He was one of many brothers and his father's business was incapable of supporting them all.
Therefore in 1903 he founded his own business in East Grinstead.
His wife Maud, who ran the firm on her own whilst he was away fighting during the first World War, ably supported him.
They had two sons, Roy and Jack, and later Roy joined the business. He too served his country during the Second World
War and on his return gradually took over the running and development of the business.
He also had two sons, Keith and Nicholas, and now we are actively involved in running the family firm and maintaining the traditional principles of good service and value.
Throughout the years Major & Sons has formed many partnerships and made many friends with both our suppliers and our customers, many of whom might move away but still request us as "the firm they know they can trust" to supply them with their jewellery needs.
Although the business is over 100 years old, we stock a wide variety of modern designs in both our watch, jewellery and silverware ranges as well as an extensive range of handmade jewellery and silverware, watches, clocks and general jewellery.
To appreciate the experiences and to gain the benefit is easy - just become one of our valued customers by contacting us either by telephone or in person.
